OUR PROCESS
Our process of embedding a technical editor within your team is an organic system that grows out of the way your engineering staff currently works. Our editors strive to smooth the flow of information as it is gathered and collated into the final drilling or completions program. We then continue working with your staff to develop an efficient and effective method for delivering updates to the program. Drop us a line and we'll share some of our secrets with you.
The Documents
When it comes to formatting your documents, we have a series of recommendations we offer, but the format generally evolves into what the folks on the rig want. After all, they will be charged with executing the program, and it needs to be presented to them in a way that is familiar and useful.
Level of Detail
We believe that the level of detail provided in a procedure should be standardized. Generally speaking, the level of detail should rise along with the complexity of the program. Detail in a procedure also helps with knowledge capture. It is possible to have a very simple procedure that is executed with the help of verbal input from a skilled crew, but this does little to help the less experienced engineer or less skilled crew who might be doing the follow-on work.
"Assume nothing!" is our motto.
Contingencies
Be careful on how long you dwell on the unforeseen. We believe in planning for success. Taking your program into a long series of “what if” scenarios can detract from the main goal of the program.
Updates
Updating a program can be a challenge. Real-world events collide with corporate Management of Change procedures. Still, we highly recommend some sort of process for making changes to your drilling or completion procedure. This will enable you to capture lessons for future use. Our editors will greatly expedite this process and give you another level of assurance.
